My auto climate control wasn't working right (after owning the car for a few months). I went through the troubleshooting listed on the FAQ and when I popped the cover off the cabin temp sensor, I found that it wasn't there, just the connector hanging. As a result, my climate control would act really strange - it would blow hot air out the vents and a/c out the floor because it was getting a cabin temp reading that was bogus. I got a used one from Bernie and it works perfectly now. So - I can see if you jam the fan so it doesn't turn but left it connected so that it could get temp reading, the climate control would probably still work, but would not be as accurate because the sensor wouldn't be getting air as fast from the cabin. New from Nissan they are only around $50 - check courtesy's parts page.
